How do you feel when you have to wait impatiently for something you urgently need?

urgently need

A ten years old boy who during Nov-December (2017) school holidays was playing with his friends when he met with a fatal road accident. After the New Year, he was on the waiting list for surgery and then started the most stressful moments especially during the heavy rains in the 2nd weeks of this month as blood bank did not have his blood type. Luckily enough  among the three blood donors waiting at blood bank to donate blood, one was O Negative and upon hearing our case, he has donated blood which was indeed a relief for our family. Have you ever wondered how you would have felt if it was you in our place?

By taking just about 10 minutes of your time today, you can help save someone’s life within a few weeks or even days of your donation.

You would all agree that we need to donate blood since it can save a life of either someone we cherished or a person in need, or a relative.

To save a situation we have lived, I encourage people to donate blood everyday and it should be part of our activity as it really saves many lives. Blood should always be there so that patients do not have to wait or die due to shortage of blood.

After a few hours going back and forth at the Blood Bank, Candos, I have seen the zeal, the commitment and professionalism of Blood Bank staffs. I want to thank them all and to all blood donors who sacrifice their time and effort to saving lives without forgetting all the staff and Doctors of the Ward at Victoria Hospital, Candos.

By taking just about 10 minutes of your time today, you can help save someone’s life within a few weeks or even days of your donation.

Did apheresis on the eve of my wedding and it was worth doing when it saved a life

I remember on the eve of my Haldi (Saffron ceremony), I was called to do Apheresis. It takes some 90 minutes, no pain (just like a blood donation) but done in 6 cycles. I know it was a good cause and helped to save a life.

Cancer patients, those undergoing cardiac surgery for example need platelets. There are other patients who may need plasma like patients victims of burn.

It’s SAFE. I would encourage people to come and do apheresis. One can donate 24 times during a year and one can donate apheresis and after 15 days make a blood donation.
